- Focus on the words that people use on the Amazon search bar
Keywords are all about the terms that people use. That is, how are they looking for products on the largest shopping platform worldwide? If you cannot focus on these terms, your approach to keyword research may not yield good results.
You can do this by visiting Amazon.com and changing the search criteria to the Kindle store. Having done so, start to type particular words in the search bar and check the suggestions made. You do not need to complete the full word. Just a few letters, and Amazon will make recommendations.
You can perform the same search operation using a tool such as Publisher Rocket. With this tool, you can list all the major keywords that people are typing on Amazon and the number of times those words have been searched for.
- Get payable Kindle keywords
Your focus should not just be to get Kindle keywords. Instead, you need keywords that buyers are interested in. Make sure that you use terms that have significant sales.
Start by getting your terms on Amazon as guided above. Select the top three books that will show up in your search results. Copy-paste each of these in your preferred Kindle Calculator to get an estimate of how much sales the books register.
If the books are not some of the best sellers, you can tell that few people are searching for that keyword, hence reducing sales. Alternatively, it could be that people who searched for the specified term did not get what they wanted, hence did not proceed with the purchase.
- Confirm competition for the Kindle keywords
Even if you have the best-selling keywords, it does not automatically mean that you will sell as much as anticipated. You need to determine the quantity of competition for your specific keyword to not waste effort on terms that may not rank you higher. Using competitor analysis tools can reveal more details regarding the competition.
By following the three steps shared above, you can get more than just your seven keywords for publishing a Kindle book. You will have:
- The list of keywords to use
- Details of monthly searches for the keywords
- The strength of competition against those keywords
Make sure that you closely analyze your keywords before publishing the Kindle book.
